Malpighia glabra belongs to the Malpighiaceae family. It growth in central and south America. The small, round and bright red fruit looks like a cherry. The pulp is juicy, acid to sub-acid occasionally nearly sweet. Acerola fruit is consumed as a juice for its high content in vitaminsC, A, B6, in iron, calcium, magnesium and flavonoids.
