The stimulating plant of maté

Yerba maté is native to the rocky mountains of subtropical South America. It is an evergreen tree.

It is one of the six commonly used stimulants in the world: yerba mate, coffee, tea, kola nut, cocoa, and guarana. It is more balanced a stimulant than the others though since it delivers both energy and nutrition. The indigenous Guarani used to make an energizing drink with mate leaves called maté.

The caffeine existing in the leaves accounts for the medical function of maté. Caffeine burns fats and contributes to increasing energy spending, while stimulating energy.
